If you belong to the LGBTQ community, you are in the United States because of Russia’s war against Ukraine and need safe temporary shelter, we are ready to help you find accommodation and other support (see below).
Eligibility criteria:
- Be a citizen of Ukraine and part of the LGBTQ community;
- Seek refuge in the United States in connection with Russia’s war against Ukraine;
- Need for financial support (our resources are limited, we ask you to apply for assistance programs only if you need it)
Our shelter assistance program works the following way:
**Step 1: **If you are already in the United States or on your way, please fill out the form following this link, we will contact you within the next 3-4 working days. If you have an urgent request or need help, please email sos@qua.community.
**Step 2: **We will contact you, and after agreeing on the state and the city where you need shelter, we will provide you with the contacts of a person who is ready to accommodate you. You can agree on the term and conditions of residence on your own.
**Step 3: **In a few days, we will contact you to check how you are doing and whether you need other assistance.
Reservation: This program is based on the willingness of American citizens to provide shelter to the Ukrainian LGBTQ community, we check whether the place is safe and the host is ready to host in a friendly manner. The host provides shelter on a voluntary basis, so we ask you not to abuse hospitality and to be polite and understanding.
If you are in physical danger or have encountered a situation where something may endanger your life or health, please contact the universal emergency number 911 immediately.
Other assistance from QUA:
We are ready to advise you on US immigration law and the necessary steps you need to take. In particular, explain the rules and procedures for TPS, asylum, and other options available to you.
QUA can also help you try to find a pro bono lawyer or refer you to organizations that focus on providing legal services to asylum seekers, and we are also ready to provide you with an affidavit of support for your next legal steps.
QUA can also help with finding appropriate adaptation and job search programs (we do not provide such a service, but we have a network of partner organizations that are ready to help you).
US residents please pay attention to the following!
If you came across this page and would like to provide assistance with the temporary shelter for the Ukrainian LGBTQ community, please fill out the form following this link. Thank you for your help and kindness!
We seek to assist Ukrainian LGBTQ + individuals living in the US and Canada to integrate, adapt, and productively contribute to American society.
